Nancy Rubins is dynamite! Famous for her monumental often floating sculptures produced using the existing airplane parts, boats, little ships, electrical appliances or even mattresses, Nancy Rubins shows us that gravity and motion is just another theory for artists to explore. I believe it is integral for us to know that she assembles these magnificent sculptures with intentions of using discarded waste of technological advancement and our consumer culture to reinvent the form into a thought-provoking one. Its a good reminder of how much waste we create and what opportunities can be done with the right craftsmanship and concrete medium and message of presentation. You guys may recognize her previous work in MGM Grand Las Vegas or Lincoln Center New York. Thumbs up; her exhibition entitled Pleasure Point is now on view in Museum of Contemporary Art of San Diego in La Jolla and has recently been acquired as a new addition to their permanent collection. Way to go!
