Urs Fischer: Marguerite de Ponty

Urs Fischer: Marguerite de Ponty is the artist's first large-scale solo presentation in an American museum. He has taken over all three of the New Museum's gallery floors to exhibit and create site-specific installations that create hallucinatory remarks. His immersive approach confronts the thinning line between reality and unreality, figuratively speaking. The massive aluminum sculptures against the pink lamp post was such an excellent contrast, and the method of composing series of still lifes as you can see, is consistent throughout.  The exhibition was neither a retrospective nor is it a traditional survey. It uses a theatrical approach and a dynamic layout that goes against the ordinary. Working together with the artist, curator Massimiliano Gioni exposes an alternative pathway into Fischer's universe. For all its worth, the layout is quite exceptionable and appropriate for the display of new productions and iconic work.
