JUSTIN BUA @ POP INTERNATIONAL GALLERY
March 25th 2010, 8:30 pm
Internationally acclaimed artist Justin BUA known for his groundbreaking contribution to the Hip-Hop world will be having his first major solo exhibition in Manhattan at Pop International Gallery. The cutting-edge gallery, located at 473 West Broadway, will open its doors to the public with a preview and reception on March 25th, at 8:30 PM.
Born and raised on the very streets of New York where Hip-Hop was born, BUA brings an intimate knowledge of the world he celebrates in paint. He was fascinated by the raw, visceral life of the city. His rhythmic brushstrokes and urban feel is captured throughout his work including his best-selling collection of fine art posters from the series "Distorted Urban Realism," which was also included in the pages of The Beat of Urban Art: The Art of Justin Bua.
Nevertheless, aside from showcasing his masterful collection of paintings from his noteworthy series (click here to view some), BUA will be unveiling his latest work, a portrait of the legendary Hip Hop mogul Jay Z and DJ Kool Herc. The exhibition will also introduce his upcoming second book envisioning the hustle and bustle of urban city life to be published by Harper Collins later this year.
Pop International is a cutting edge gallery known for showcasing revolutionary artists such as Jean Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol and Keith Herring. For more information on gallery click here.
