Anish Kapoor & London's Olympic Park

Following his success in London after the 2003 Unilever installation in the Tate Modern and a 2009 show at the Royal Academy, Anish Kapoor has received a commission to construct The ArcelorMittal Orbit in London's Olympic Park. The sculpture will be made of tubular steel and will in fact, be the tallest in the UK, towering to a height of 115 meters (yes, that is approximately a good 22 meters taller than New York's beloved darling, the Statue of Liberty!). At the apex of the structure, there will be a viewing platform, which allow tourists and visitors alike to experience and oversee the London cityscape. Shhhh...at this point, The ArcelorMittal Orbit is already being considered the monument of Games for the East End. Way to go Mr. Kapoor.
