Jehad Nga's new series, Turkana captures the tragic portraits of the Turkana tribe of Kenya. Abandoned and forgotten by their own government, the tribe has long suffered and received very little aid. Nga photographs them in a freestanding pose, completely detached from their environment. In particular, he tries to convey the story without having to capture the harsh terrain region. On the contrary, his compelling chiaroscuro effect convinces the viewer to confront the characters as is.

The exhibition will be on view until July 16, 2010.
