All It's Corners

A couple of years after he received his BFA from University of California at Santa Barbara, Jason Middlebrook obtained his MFA from San Francisco Art Institute.

Looking at his latest wooden-plank paintings, we can see that the artist embraces the idea of nature. Middlebrook creates abstract patterns using acrylic paint that adds on or draw more overtly onto the wood's natural contours. Some pieces, however, take on a more lively appeal as the angles and shapes course down into wider margins and brighter pigments.

Jason Middlebrook also participated in the Whitney Independent Study Program and Iaspis Residency in Stockholm, Sweden.
